Bring your ceilings into this decade

Popcorn ceilings date a home instantly. Removing them is one of the highest-impact, most affordable updates you can make β€” and it’s a job we’ve done in countless North Dallas homes. The result is a clean, modern ceiling that makes the whole room feel brighter and newer.

What’s included

A safety note on older homes

If your home was built before the 1980s and the ceiling has never been tested, popcorn texture from that era can sometimes contain asbestos. We’ll recommend testing before removal in those cases β€” it’s the responsible way to do this work.

How it works

  1. Free quote. We look at the ceilings, talk through the finish you want, and give you a price.
  2. Prep and protect. We seal off the space and cover everything.
  3. Scrape, tape and bed, finish, and paint. The popcorn comes off, the ceiling is taped and bedded, your chosen finish goes on, and we repaint and clean up.

Serving Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, and the surrounding North Dallas suburbs.

Popcorn Ceiling Removal β€” FAQs

Isn't popcorn ceiling removal really messy? +
It can be β€” which is why prep matters. We cover and protect your floors, walls, and furniture before we start, control the dust during the work, and clean up thoroughly afterward. Many customers tell us they were surprised how tidy the process was.
Could my popcorn ceiling contain asbestos? +
Popcorn ceilings installed before the 1980s can sometimes contain asbestos. If your home is from that era and the material has never been tested, we recommend having it tested before removal β€” it's an important safety step. Call us and we'll walk you through it.
What finish can I have on my ceiling once the popcorn is off? +
Whatever you want. Once we've scraped the popcorn off and taped and bedded the ceiling, we can apply a smooth finish, orange peel texture, knockdown texture, and more. Smooth gives the cleanest, most modern look; orange peel and knockdown add a subtle pattern that hides minor imperfections and can be matched to the texture already on your walls or in the rest of the house. We'll walk you through the options and recommend what suits your home.
Do you paint the ceiling afterward? +
Yes. Scraping, tape and bed, your chosen finish, and a fresh coat of ceiling paint are all handled by our crew in one project β€” you don't need a separate painter.
Why do you tape and bed after scraping? +
Because scraping the popcorn off exposes the drywall seams underneath. Taping and bedding those seams gives you a flat, sound ceiling before any finish goes on. Skip that step and the old seams tend to show through the new texture or paint, especially in daylight.
