Two halves of the same craft

Texture work comes in two forms, and we do both. Applying texture means putting a fresh finish on a new or fully prepped surface β€” a whole ceiling or wall. Matching texture means blending a repair into what’s already there so it disappears. Different jobs, same skill.

Applying texture

New drywall, a re-done ceiling, or a surface stripped back to bare board all need texture applied from scratch. We prep it properly, mask everything off, and spray or trowel the finish you want.

Notice the prep in that first photo: seams taped and bedded flat, vents masked, walls sheeted off. That’s the part nobody sees, and it’s the part that decides whether the finished texture looks right.

Matching texture

Anyone can slap mud on a hole. Making it disappear is a different craft. Matching is the difference between a wall that looks repaired and a wall that looks like nothing ever happened β€” and it’s what Patch Plus Paint is known for.

Tape and bed

Before any texture goes on, new or repaired drywall has to be taped and bedded β€” the seams taped and the joints coated and smoothed so the surface is flat and solid. We handle this foundation step properly, because no texture or paint looks right over a bad tape-and-bed job.

Textures we apply and match

When you need us

How it works

  1. We look at the surface β€” and on tricky existing finishes, test a small area first.
  2. We prep and mask so the rest of your home stays clean.
  3. We apply or blend the texture to match what you want or what’s already there.
  4. We paint so the finish is seamless and complete.

Serving Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, and surrounding North Dallas suburbs.

Texture β€” FAQs

Why do most patches look obvious? +
Because matching texture is genuinely hard. The wrong spray pressure, the wrong knockdown timing, or the wrong technique leaves a patch that stands out under the light. Getting it right takes experience β€” it's one of the things our customers mention most in their reviews.
What textures can you match? +
All sorts of them: orange peel, knockdown, popcorn, hand texture, and crows foot, plus smooth finishes up to a Level 5 smooth finish. We also handle tape and bed on new or repaired drywall. If your home has an unusual texture, we'll test on a small area first to dial in the match.
What is a Level 5 smooth finish? +
A Level 5 finish is the highest standard for smooth walls β€” a skim coat applied over the entire surface so there are no visible seams, tool marks, or texture. It's ideal for smooth modern walls and for areas with critical lighting where every imperfection would otherwise show.
Can you re-texture a whole wall or room? +
Yes. Sometimes the cleanest result β€” especially after major repairs or wallpaper removal β€” is to re-texture the full wall or ceiling so everything is consistent. We'll recommend whether to blend a patch or re-do the surface.
Does the match include paint? +
A texture match isn't truly finished until it's painted, so yes β€” we texture and paint as one job for a complete, invisible result.
